My own musical education began at the age of 7, and I was offered a place at the prestigious Chethams School of Music in Manchester a year later.

Further studies were in Manchester with  Peter Noke (piano) and Jonathan Price (cello) before being offered a place at the world-renowned Royal Academy of Music in London.

At the RAM  I studied with  Antonietta Notariello (piano) and Lionel Handy (cello). In my second and third years, I specialized in piano accompaniment, studying with the distinguished accompanist Geoffrey Pratley.

Having  gained the LRAM in piano teaching in 1986, I graduated a year later with the Professional Certificate of the Royal Academy of Music (Hons).

I am  a member of EPTA -  the European Piano Teachers Association and of the ISM- The Incorporated Society of Musicians-organisations for professional musicians.

I have taught privately and in schools since 1992, and performed extensively, primarily as an accompanist, in venues such as St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, and St Georges, Hanover Square, London.  In addition, I have also performed at masterclasses given by renowned pianists such as Kendall Taylor and Graeme Humphrey.

Many other musical activities have included performing with ceilidh bands, work as a supply organist and singing in choirs.

I have a recent CRB certificate (Summer 2010).
